Special Ordering a Piece of Furniture

Okay, so, many of you do not understand that it may take anywhere from 8-12 weeks for a piece of furniture to be ordered, made, shipped and inspected, and then ultimately delivered to your home where it will make the perfect addition to your room!! Here is where it starts..
Take a sofa for example...

Step 1- You make your way to a furniture store and sit on every sofa that your legs can lift you in and out of, and finally you find the perfect sofa to go in your room.
Step 2- After you decide that you have found the perfect sofa, you need to find the perfect fabrics, sorting through all of the different fabrics can and will be overwhelming, but, you need to have a little bit of tunnel vision on this one, to pick out the base fabric is as easy as playing the process of elimination game-but that's another post, for a different day!
Step 3- sit, sit, sit, and sit, after you have complete the first 2 steps, you will need to think about how you will be able to pay for the sofa, most furniture stores, will require some sort of deposit down on the sofa and then you may finance the rest, or pay the rest on delivery or pick-up.
Step 4- When you tell your sales person that you would like to go with it, then you need to make sure that the sales person orders exactly what you want, even though you may not know how to read your invoice, asking will help, make sure that you have the fabrics that you have chosen so that you can compare what your sales person has down.
Step 5- This may be the hardest step of all, WAIT!! and wait really does not mean call every month to see if your sofa is in, because trust me, if it was in, you would know about it, because more than likely your salesperson will not be getting paid for selling you, your furniture until after it has been safely delivered to your home. So, when I say WAIT, I really do mean it! ( in the Nice's way possible).

*During your waiting time, here is what will happen, an order will be submitted to the specific manufacture of the sofa, and the manufacture will make it, and ship it to the furniture store's warehouse where is will await the arrival at your home!

I hope that this is helpful to all of you, but, and the same time, now that you have some sort of education on this furniture business you won't be so shocked when the sales person tells you that it will take some time to get your furniture, and I hope that this will help everyone to plan better and to think ahead!

Let me know what you think, and if there are any questions that I can answer for you!

Changes

Change can be good, wait, let me re-Fraze that... Change can sometimes be good. We all at one point or another like to change either our hair cut, color, just as much as we like to change our living room, or if you don't just go buy furniture just because you like to rearrange your furniture. Well, it's the same with furniture stores, I think that once every year someone gets that burning sensation to move all of the furniture around and turn the whole place up-side-down! Really crazy! Well, this year, not only are we moving furniture around we are moving the whole store around! As I pass down the hall ways and the isles of Sofa's and Loveseats, I can hear the workers tearing down walls, and I can smell the fresh paint on every wall possible. It really does make the store feel "like New" again, I am very hopefull that all of these changes are going to be able to help pave the way for many other changes that need to take place.

First Blog

Hello, and thank you for checking out my blog, this is not only my first blog, but, my first posting! I have created this blog for many different reasons, the first being to educate people about buying furniture, the second to let many consumers know what goes on behind the scenes of a furniture store so that they can understand what happens after they purchase their new furniture and now have to wait for it to come in, and the last reason I started this blog is so that I could share exactly what my day is like, including all of the crazy co-workers and customers I deal with daily! Don't be afraid to share what you think, and I hope you enjoy reading it just as much as I enjoy writing it!
